Information

The top is constructed of 38 pieces in the front and 45 pieces in the back multiplied by two as I did not reflect any of the pieces. Every single piece is completely finished using a serger. The technique I used within the top was transformation reconstruction which is a method of pattern design that allows for creative shaping and effects to be built into the cut of the garment as the pattern is developed. In my initial practice of this technique, I used cotton fabric which bunched in weird places creating an organic look, however in my final I used a canvas material that I dyed myself using red cabbage, hibiscus leaves and beets.

Pattern Making lll Final Project

Within the skirt I used subtraction cutting on 4 yards of cotton fabric, as well as floral smocking on the upper waist. I picked up access fabric and tacked it into different spots within the skirt to create an interesting visual effect.
